Drums

In five years of playing, James has studied a wide range of styles including rock, funk, jazz and latin. An extremely versatile drummer, James continues to draw from these styles and uses them to mould his playing and develop his own sound as a musician. He also currently plays with 20 piece jazz band The Byres Road Big Band.

Dougie

Dougie studied under the tutelage of BBC Scottish Symphony bassist Bill Hoare, together with a number of other musicians who went on to play as part of the Scottish National Orchestra. His pride and joy is his 1975 Fender Jazz Bass and he has honed his skills to perfection playing in numerous bands together with the Helensburgh Orchestral Society and the Dunbartonshire County Orchestra.

Piano/Vocals

Angus joined Hidden Agenda in 2006, playing piano and at a later date adding to the backing vocals. A multi-instrumentalist, music has always been Angus’ chief source of enjoyment and he has played in a wide range of bands over the years.  Other musical involvement includes playing accordion in a Scottish band called The Reel Thing, and a number of performances at the Edinburgh festival. Angus studied music from an early age at school and went on to complete a degree at Glasgow University.

Simon

Simon has played lead guitar in a number of function bands and is also proud to count a host of performances as a session guitarist with various different Glasgow based solo performers. A music teacher by day, Simon has a wealth of experience when it comes to performance. Not one to shy away from the limelight, Simon can be counted upon as a great vocalist should the song require it. With the fastest fingers in the land, just wait until you hear him rip a solo out at your next big party!

Throughout Ashley’s years of performing she has been involved with a variety of ensembles from concert bans to quartets. As a result, she has covered a wide range of styles from classical to modern pop. Having been a member of Hidden Agenda for the past 3 years Ashley has seen the band go from strength to strength. She believes the passion which the band has for performing is evident and can clearly be seen from the energy which they create on stage.  Ashley studied sax under the instruction of Carole Sutherland at Edinburgh Napier University and has recently completed a Masters in musicology.

Andy

One of our two lead vocalists, Andy joined Hidden Agenda in 2010 and has helped the band develop both musically and commercially. A passionate fan of Motown and Soul music, Andy honed his vocal skills whilst performing in various musicals across Scotland and has performed sell out shows at The Mitchell Theatre, The Citizens Theatre, The Queen Margaret Union and a number of Edinburgh Fringe venues. In his spare time, Andy also writes and performs his own solo material and is currently working on his “difficult third album”.

Charlene

Vocals

Charlene is Hidden Agenda’s secret weapon. With a soulful voice that can range from the delicate “Son of a Preacher Man” to the downright sassy “R E S P E C T”, Charlene can sing it all and is guaranteed to add  a touch of class and glamour to your function. With a degree in music, Charlene is a professional singing teacher and choir master at Loud and Proud Paisley.  Charlene can also be booked to sing classical pieces at your ceremony.
